After homeschooling for years, my youngest child is taking off for college. I was sure of who I was in June but now as September suddenly approaches and Alex takes off for the Big Apple, I'm taking a breath and asking what my next big adventure should be. I really am "Reinventing Rebecca!"

Love these two pieces together; the contrast, the texture, the way the sleeves work together and I’m looking forward to the length.

This casual look is so classy, so artistic! I love the pairing of the pale sweater with the vibrant clutch (by Valentino). Crazy about every element of this look!

Fancy Nails!!:

Matesse Elite - Black

Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen - White

OPI - RapiDry Top Coat

1. Paint nails with two coats of Matesse Elite Black and allow to dry

2. Google image search “zebra stripes”!

3. Using the Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen recreate the stripe pattern on your nails.  Draw each nail with a different pattern to make it interesting.

4. Allow to dry

5. Apply OPI RapiDry TopCoat to the entire nail.

Not sure if you saw my response so I figured I would just send it to you directly. Thank you! I shoot so many photos when I go for my walks that I definitely don’t jot down or note where most of the photos are taken aside from the neighborhood because it’s just my way of relaxing and unwinding. There is also some bizarre issue with my camera where the geo-tagging doesn’t work whenever I upload to Flickr. If you ever have a question about any photo in particular though, you can always feel free to ask about it and I can jog my memory and come up with a guess as to where exactly I was. Remember though that Google Street View is not quite up to date so when you visit the street view of certain areas with murals or decorations, they may be different :).

Thank YOU!  I will ask next time I wonder about a location.  I do know that Google Street-View is sadly lacking but I am so glad it exists.  (You actually made me think of a new idea for a post.) Some of the businesses I see on Google Street-View will no longer exist or will be replaced by the time I get to the City again.  I am just happy it exists.  It will have to do for now. I can swing the ticket but the nightly rate for housing is so expensive, plus having a daughter in college is costly.  The college will allow me 3 days at her place so I hope to get a visit in somehow. I would love to come the first week in February.  Who knows?  For now, I am jealous but happy looking at Google Street-View and your beautiful pictures. Is photography your profession?

ROOM WITH A VIEW…This is the downward view from one of Alex’s apartment windows. While it is not glamorous, the upward view does offer a slice of sky and I think she’s fortunate not to have a window that only looks into someone else’s window (you can see a slew of those windows on the left and right of this picture). The apartment, on the 22nd floor, is in the center crevice between two of the three “towers.”  It is actually a single building but from the Broadway and Sixth Avenue side, it looks like it is three separate towers.  The windows look out over the Broadway (and behind that, the Sixth Avenue). She and her two roommates have three windows and they each have their desk positioned in front of one of the windows. At the street level, you can see a little green.  Those are trees at the very edge of Herald Square Park.  The street you can see is Sixth Avenue and hidden from view, closer to the building, is Broadway, which angles up to Sixth Avenue.
Low in the picture, you can also view the 3rd floor overhang.  Sadly, one of the two third floor overhangs is where 17 year old, Nicole John (daughter of the US ambassador to Thailand) fell to her death.  This happened the second week Alex was in NYC. Nicole John stepped out onto a window ledge while her judgement was impaired by alcohol. They think she intended to take a photo. Though Alex and her roommates did not see anything except the media, who swarmed outside the building, the tragedy certainly made an impact on all the King’s College students. We continue to pray for the John family.
